FORD MOTOR COMPANY OF In a year 200,000 cars, vans, trucks and tractors are produced in the Ford plant at Dagenham in Essex. The largest motor works in the British Commonwealth, it covers an area of 79 acres. 17,000 people are employed. From raw materials iron ore, coal, limestone and sand to finished products, all processes are carried out in this one plant. Ford-Dagenhain is the only motor works in the United Kingdom with its own blast furnace. It is the only one with its own jetty for unloading raw materials and loading vehicles. The jetty is the longest on the Thames-side.
