Record Beef Levels At Frankton
In spite of a full yarding, the market for ox beef reached a record level at the Frankton stock sale on Tuesday when two extra prime heavy Shorthorn bullocks offered on behalf of Robinson Bros., Te Rore, brought £4l each. Two Shorthorns sold on behalf of Mr A. Glass, Huntly, realised £4O 15s, while other heavy buloclfs sold up to £39 15s. Very few heifers wer? penned, and there was only a medium yarding of cow beef. In line with the bullocks, these also rose sharply in value.
Country butchers were operating freely for a full yarding of ' fat wethers, and prices rose sharply. Heavy prime woolly wethers sold up to £6 Is 6d, while fat ewes remained on a pat with those offering last week.
A smaller yarding of all classes of pigs was penned. Baconers and porkers were in demand, prices improving on last week’s quotations. Store and weaner pigs were also keenly sought.
