LADIES HAVING A SUCCESSFUL TOURNAMENT

Favoured with ideal weather, the Whakatane Ladies’ Golf Club is in the last day of its annual threeday open tournament. On the first'two days’ play, Whakatane ladies are shaping well against the rather frightening opposition of 50 visitors. i

First Day’s Play The first day, Wednesday, was devoted to qualifying and medal rounds. •

The gross aggregate medal saw Mrs S. S. Wilson and Mrs J. R. Morris, both of Auckland, turn in cards of 169, Mrs Wilson being the winner on the count back. Mrs Corcoran, of Whakatane, won the nett aggregate medal with 142. The senior morning medal went to Mrs Park, of Tauranga, 85—18— 67. Mrs Newman and Mrs Balfour, both of Whakatane, turned in nett 68’s in the junior section and Mrs Newman won on the count back. Senior afternoon medal winner was Mrs McDowell, of Te Puke, on a 73. Mrs Blake, of Whakatane, and Mrs Corcoran, also of Whakatane, netted 71 for the juniors, Mrs Blake winning on the count back. The teams’ match was won by Whakatane, Mesdames Blake, Balfour and Miles.
