Competition And Keen Values At Cattle Fair

The Farmers’ Co-op. Auctioneering Co. Ltd. report on their Spring Cattle Fair held in conjunction with the fortnightly stock sale on September 13.

Pigs were penned in good numbers. Competition was keen throughout and values firmed on late rates. There was a large yarding of fat and forward wethers and hoggets. Butchers from outside districts competed freely and values were higher. There was a full yarding of all classes of cattle.

Fat Jersey cows and heifers and dairy showed a sharp rise while paddock cows also firmed. Station bred cattle were keenly competed for. There again values were high. Dairies sold at late rates. A feature of the sale was a large attendance of buyers from outside districts. Quotations: —
