Nukuhou Gardening Circle Of W.I.

The September meeting of the Nukuhou Women’s Institute gardening circle was held last Wednesday at Mrs R. Macdonald’s home. Mrs Englebretson presided in the absence of Mrs Poole. The attendance was good.

A reading on the planting of seeds in the spring, and the names of edging, border and bedding plants was given. A competition, matching flower names, was wnn by several members, who had an equal number correct. The competitions were judged by Mrs Hewitt, the results being:— Best flower, Mrs M. King 1, Mrs Menzies 2, Mrs Cranswick 3; best shrub, Mrs King 1, Mrs W. Macdonald 2, Mrs R. Macdonald 3; best vegetable, Mrs King 1, Mrs McGillivray 2, Mrs R. L. Macdonald 3; bowl of flowers, Mrs Cranswick 1, Mrs King 2, Mrs R. L. Macdonald 3.
