MAORIS GRATEFUL TO ROTARY CLUB
Unqualified approval of the help offered by the Rotary Club of Whakatane to the organisers of the Maori War Memorial fund has been expressed by the Matatua Tribal Committee.
“If the Pakeha people feel the loss of their sons in war as we do in the Maori Marae, we can understand and are grateful for their desire to help make a stone to the memory of the Maori warriors,” said a spokesman.
