Whakatane Interest In Help For Aged
Copies of prizes being given by the Kerridge-Odeon organisation in an art union it is conducting to help establish an old people’s home in Auckland are on view in the foyer of the Regent Theatre, Whakatane. The demand for tickets, selling at a shilling each, has been great here. People have shown interest in the object of the Art Union.
The Art Union will close on October 11 and be drawn on November 11. First of the 17 prizes is £250 cash. Second is a refrigerator, third a return trip to Suva, fourth a washing machine. Prizes have been donated by firms which are helping to sponsor the Art Union.
R.S.A*- Will Farewell K-Force
A decision to make arrangements to farewell suitably men leaving for service with K-Force was made at a meeting of the Whakatane R.S.A. on Wednesday night.
