Whakatane St John Are Winners In Indoor Bowls Tourney

Playing against 45 other, teams the Whakatane St John A team won the first indoor bowling tournament held by the newly-formed Bay of Plenty Indoor Bowling Centre of New Zealand (Inc) SubAssociation Whakatane, in the Winter Show Building last weekend. More than 170 players competed in the tournament and the semifinals and finals became a series of hard-fought, first class games. There is no doubt that indoor bowls is now a popular and wellestablished sport in this district and further tournaments of this type are assured of strong support from both town and country play-/ ers.

Rivett, on behalf oi the Association, presented Messrs i E R. Ramson, H. L. Drube, A. W. Mclntosh and G. Ramson with a silver cup each and congratulated them on their success.
