It is unlikely that'there will be any more Ranfurly Shield games this season. Wairarapa has completed its engagements. According to the shield rules, the closing date for the lodging of challenges is the end of August. Wairarapa’s surprise success on Saturday, up to which stage they had won one, lost four and drawn one of their representative matches recalls the amazing final match for the shield in 1929, when Southland sprang a bombshell by beating Wairarapa at Masterton and taking the trophy south.
