Miniature Rifles

BEACON WINS TROPHY Three teams competed for the Tyssen Interhouse Trophy, the holders, P. and T., and challengers, Beacon and Fire Brigade, at the Legion Miniature Rifle Club shoot in the Winter Show Buildings on Tuesday. Luck was again with the Beacon team, L. O. Stewart, Miss A. Bathe, J. Jessop and L. R. Spring who scored 353, to emerge the winners against the P. and T. team, B. Grant, L. G. Attwood, Mrs J. Critchley and D. Dufty 345, and the Fire Brigade, R. Yeoman, J. Price, P. Armstrong and J. Miles 298. Seven members of the Awakeri Y.F.C., T. C. Delaney, D. R. Missen, D. Parkinson, W. Luxton, A. Luxton, D. Luxton and M. Lomax shot two N.Z. wide Y.F.C. postal competitions, both on 20 yards, one with target rifles and one with sporting rifles. The holders of the Silver Buttons C. Bathe, A. Bradshaw, W. Addison and Mrs J. Critchley faced two challenges and were defeated by W. Tyssen, Miss A. Bathe, E. R Hunt and B. Grant 360/331. The other challenge was from Miss D. Tyssen, L. O. Stewart, L. G. Attwood and A. Wiggins who scored 341.

On handicap L. O. Stewart again won the silver teaspoon trophy and R. Reid the Junior pennant.
