Apparently The Army Was On Leave When The Beacon Phoned
Whakatane personnel who have teen selected for K-Force left for Papakura camp yesterday. So far, however, the Bay of Plenty Beacon has not been able to discover just Who they all are. In an attempt to find out, we rang the Army Department's Office at Tauranga shortly before nine o'clock yesterday morning. "No reply," said exchange. "A little early perhaps," we thought. We tried again in the mid-morning. Still no reply and we put in another call in the afternoon. "No reply," exchange repeated. So, knowing that the Department of Labour and Employment had a say in these things, we tried that department's Tauranga office. "No' reply," said exchange.
