Land At Rotoma Wanted For Reserve
Negotiations for the acquisition ■of about 2,37 acres of native bush on Rotoma Hill for preservation as a scenic reserve are now being carried out with the Department of Maori Affairs, according to a letter received by the Whakatane County Council from the Minister of Labour, Mr Sullivan. In his letter the Minister pointed
out that a very large number of owners were involved but a meeting was to be held soon to discuss the suggestion of making a reserve of the area. The owners would consider the Crown’s offer.
The suggestion was first made by the Council some months ago.
