GAY COSTUMES SEEN AT MATATA FANCY DRESS BALL

The Matata Hall presented a very gay appearance when about 200 children, in fancy costume, “tripped the light fantastic” to the tunes of folk dances and singing games for the annual fancy dress ball of the district. In order to display the many beautiful and humorous costumes to the best advantage the Grand March was divided into three sections, Junior, Intermediate and Senior.

A large number of adults who helped to fill the hall to capacity showed their appreciation of the various dances by their continued applause. After 9.30, when the last group of children went to supper, the adults took the floor to music supplied by Freddie Burt’s Orchestra.
