The gentle little lady who had been watching the antics of the Pekingese in the pet shop window came in to price them. “That bitch,” said the salesman, pointing, “you can have for £lO, or the bitch there for £11.” The lady winced perceptibly. “What’s the matter, madam,” asked the salesman, “aren’t you familiar with the term ‘bitch’?” “Yes,” she said haughtily, “but I’ve never before heard it applied t.o dogs.”
