FINAL BOUND OF SENIOR COMPETITION The final round of the senior Whakatane Rugby competition for the Waitemata Cup will be played on Saturday at 3 p.m. This will wind up the first division of games before the Bracken Cup knockout gets under way. Whakatane B were to have defended the Moore Shield from Galatea B but Galatea have notified they are unable to play and have forfeited the match. The early matches will commence from noon when a High School team will play Whakatane District Primary Schools’ representatives. This will ,be followed by the final of the third grade competition between Ruatoki and High School: The matches:—

High School Lightweights v Whakatane District Primary Schools’ representatives on No. 1 field, noon. Third grade final: Ruatoki v High School A No. 1, 1.15 p.m. Senior: United V Wairaka No. 1; Ruatoki v Paroa No. 2; Taneatua v Poroporo at Taneatua. Whakatane senior A and B and junior rep teams to train Sunday, at 10 a.m.

NEW RANGITAIKI COMPETITIONS New competitions will be commenced in the Rangitaiki Rugby Sub-Union on Saturday. Senior teams will play for the Duff Cup while the junior division will contest the Lion Cup. The draw:—

Seniors: 2 p.m.: Edgecumbe v Matata at Edgecumbe, referee B. Smith; Thornton v Te Teko at Thornton, J. Hyland. Juniors: 1 p.m.: Matata v Edgecumbe at Matata, A. Magee; Otakiri v Te Teko at Otakiri, A. Hegh.

JUNIORS TO PLAY OPOTIKI The main senior Rugby match for the Bay unions on Saturday will be that between Bay of Plenty and Thames Valley at Waihi. For Whakatane the junior representatives will be playing Opotiki at Opotiki for the Shalfoon Shield. The bus will leave McComb’s depot at noon. Players will be provided with jerseys and socks. UNITED SENIOR TEAM

The following are players to meet Wairaka at the Domain on Saturday. Practice at A. and P. shed tonight at 7.30 sharp. $ Goodwin, Hunt, Taylor, Rutherford, Stewart, French, Howat, Yates, Malaquin, Callaghan, LaidlawT' Parkinson, Haddon, McMillan, Ruffles, Shaw, Green, Gardiner, Butler (2), Woods (2).
