H. RANAPIA BACK TO LOCK FOR THE BAY RUGBY TEAM
The return of the former Whakatane Maori All Black, H. Ranapia, as lock forward is the only change in the Bay of Plenty Rugby team to play Thames Valley at Waihi on Saturday. Ranapia has been recovering from a fractured jaw received in the game against Poverty Bay last month. He showed a return to his old form in club Rugby a fortnight ago. B. McGougan, wing, and E. T. Welch, full back, are the only other Whakatane players included in the team.
At the back of the scrum Rangitaiki is represented by Potae' and also Moses as front row prop.
An addition to the reserves is the promising Te Puke five-eighth, Gray, who made a favourable impression at Whakatane some weeks ago. The team: —
Fullback: E. Welch (Whakatane). Three-quarters: Martin, T. Kapua (Rotorua), McGougan (Whakatane). Five-eighths: Douglas, Himona (Rotorua). Half back: Raureti (Rotorua). Back row: Potae (Rangitaiki). Reserves: Forwards: James, Rogers ((Rotorua). Backs: Gardiner Gray (Te Puke).
