Bay Philatelic Society Reviews Successful Year

Comment on the past successful year, which included the winning of the Ambury Shield at Hamilton was passed at the • annual meeting of the Bay of Plenty Philatelic Society held at Whakatane. Among the displays shown members, were the Government Stamp Department series, on Progress of Aviation; 1898 Pictorial; Methods of Transport, as illustrated on the stamps of various countries. The complete Universal Postal Union Anniversary, both British Empire and Foreign, was shown to members. The numerous flaws and reentries of the present New Zealand issue excited keen interest in the study groups. Membership is now 35 and a very satisfactory financial position was disclosed in the balance sheet. Officers elected:—

President, Dr Fletcher Cole; immediate past president, Mr H. O. Garaway; vice-president Mr S. Whitworth; hon. secretary, Miss G. Brown; hon. treasurer, Mr R. Herbison; exchange superintendent, Mr C. R. Coates; hon. auditor, Mr B Alexander; committee, Mrs A. McLean, T. Dixon, R. Craddock and J. Young.
