YOUNG FARMERS TRAIN FOR N.Z. CONTEST
Members of the Thornton Young Farmers’ Club, who are practicing for a New .Zealand wide Y.F.C. rifle contest, were the guests of the Whakatane Legion of Frontiersmen Miniature Rifle Club at the weekly-' shoot. on' Tuesday evening. Several of the boys had never before used target rifles. - - Owing to the very cold weather, dart and quoit games were even more popular than usual, and the majority of members are now proficient on these stand-by games. The senior Silver Teaspoon trophy was won by L. G. Attwood and after a count back on bulls to de- . cide a tie, the Junior Pennant went to G. Bell. Results:—
