NEW POWER BOARD EQUIPMENT TO COST £21,780

The installation of new special rhythmatic control equipment to replace the existing expensive and costly to maintain method of timeswitching was approved at the monthly meeting of the Bay of Plenty Power Board held at Opotiki. The equipment was recommended by the engineer-manager, Mr J. D. Dicker, and tender of £21,780 submitted by the Automatic Telephone and Electric Company, London, was accepted.

Both the board and consumer's will obtain decided advantages from the installation of this new and up-to-date equipment. . The board gave serious consideration to the recent representations made by the Hon. W. Sullivan to the State Hydro Department in an endeavour to secure an adequate allocation of power to the district, also the department's suggestions and offer in the event of the introduction of individual consumer rationing. The matter was finally deferred pending more definite information.

It is understood that the 6.30 to 7.30 p.m. restriction will probably be discontinued towards the end of this month on account of the commencement of the dairy season.
