Verse Specially Written
Although it may not have won a prize in any lyric competition the following verse presented by the Glee Club of the Whakatane Women's Institute was enthusiastically greeted at the official opening of the Institute's new hall and club rooms. It was specially written by a member for the occasion. We've got to get the money for our hall We've got to get it in somehow For the bill of expenses was a blow to our senses So we have to raise the cash somehow. We've organised this one-day Bazzaar We've started out to raise the dough So we trust you all are willing to spend your every shilling And help us in this one-day show. Our President's a tiger for the sugar And we don't mean the sugar that you eat So we want a good tinkle to make her eyes twinkle And so make her happiness complete. To all our Institute members And to all our visitors too We hope you will buy up all our produce And help us with our 1.0. U.
