Statistics giving a comparison of the volume of New Zealand meat production in the last 11 seasons have been compiled oy the Census and Statistics Department. The various products of the meat freezing and preserving industries have hpen combined in the index, and with l:;38-39 taken as the base at 100, the movements in volume of output are: 1938-39, 100; 1939-40, 111; 1940-41, 119; 1941-42, 121; 194243, 127; 1943-44, 117; 1944-45, 126; 1945-46, 128; 1946-47, 131;- 1947-48, 131; 1948-49, 129.
