Had No Shooting Licence
When he was approached by a Government ranger at Waimana on May 13 Noel lan Gillanders, Waimana, was the, only member of a party shooting at grey duck and not the holder of a shooting licence. His shotgun was taken from him and the sequel was a fine of £5, costs 12s, in the Whakatane Magistrate’s Court on Friday. Although John Edward Smart Whakatane, had a general fishing licence to cover New Zealand -it did not cover the Waimana area in Which he was found trout fishing bv a ranger. He was fined £2, costs 12s. Brief Court Cases The following cases were dealt with in the Whakatane Magistrate’s Court before Mr E. L. Walton, S.M. on Friday:—
For the illegal use of a bus horn Walter William Hona, builder, Whakatane, was fined £3, costs 18s. Pleading guilty to stealing a box of tools Dave Wilson, rabbiter Piripai, was fined £5, costs £1 7s. A. fine of £2, costs £1 16s, was imposed on G. Phillips, Poroporo, for allowing six cows to wander on county roads. When he traded as a hawker in the Whakatane County without folding the appropriate licence Richard Thomas Savage Whakatane, was fined £l, costs £1 0s 6d.
