Many Buyers In Search Of Bay Breeding Ewes

There was a very large attendance of farmers and visitors from all Bay of Plenty districts and many parts of the Auckland Province in search of breeding ewes to a clearing sale conducted by the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. and Wright, Stephenson and Co. at Papamoa. The two tooth ewes were small framed sheep but all the sheep came forward in good order and condition and a total clearance was effected under spirited competition.

Range of prices realised: — Two tooth ewes, £3 Is 6d; 4 tooth ewes, £3 16s 6d; 6 tooth ewes, £3 13s; 4-year ewes, £2 16s; 5 and 6 year ewes, £2 14s; shorn 4 tooth ewes, £2 14s; shorn 6 tooth ewes, £2 18s; shorn 4 and 5 year ewes, £2 4s 6d; mixed aged Southdown rams, 2gns to 4gns; stud Southdown ewes, 5 gns; Southdown ewe hoggets, 3gns; Southdown ram hoggets, 4fgns. Farm implements and sundries :—• David Brown tractor, £510; 3 furrow tractor plough, £55; McCormick mower, £10; tractor trailer,, £45; rotary topdreser, £10; harrows, £l3: drill, £5. Horses: Draught horses, £6 t.o £8; hacks, £7 to £l6.
