Young Farmers Plan War Memorials At Two Colleges
The New Zealand Federation of Young Farmers’ Clubs has now raised £20,000 by club and district efforts for a memorial to commemorate the sacrifice of those of its members who lost their lives in World War 11. The fund was inaugurated more than four years ago and an appeal was made to club members throughout the Dominion.
It is proposed to erect additional buildings at Lincoln and Massey Agricultural Colleges to provide facilities for special short courses to meet the requirements of Young Farmers’ Club members. The buildings will be dedicated as a memorial to the club members who gave service to the Y.F.C. movement and to their country in the war. The memorial will be a living one, as it will give service to many generations of young farmers. The W.F.C. movement has at present 332 clubs throughout the Dominion, with a total active membership of about 10,000 and an honorary and advisory membership of 1500.
