Increase In Dairy Produce Graded For Export

Creamery butter graded for export in the Dominion for the nine months ended April 30, 1950, was 138,320 tons, an increase of 1270 tons compared with the corresponding period in 1948-49, according to figures issued by the Dairy Division of the Department of Agriculture. Figures for cheese for the same nine-month period showed an increase of 5327 tons. If these figures are converted into b'utterfat equivalent, there is an increase of about 2*'per cent in butterfat graded for the nine months compared with the corresponding period of the preceding season. The figures refer only to butter and cheese graded for export, and because of diversions which may take place from time to time they do not necessarily reflect actual trends in production on the farm.
