Large Sum Collected By Local Crippled Children's Society

A record sum of £341, an increase of £7B on that of 1949, was collected during the year the President, Dr E. T. Dawson, stated in his report presented to the annual meeting of the Whakatane Sub-Centre of the Crippled Children’s Society. This came largely from the annual appeal.

Cases handled numbered 76 with new cases numbering 34. Twelve cases were cured. A number of children were treated at hospitals at Wellington, Gisborne and Hamilton. Officers elected:— *

President, Dr E. T. Dawson; vicepresident, Mr E. S. Mackay; secretary, Milss North; treasurer, Mr J: B. Slipper; committee, Mesdames Dawson, Waterhouse, Jaram, Crapp, Mcßoberts, S. Armstrong, Mackay, Messrs Palairet, V. Allen, J. B. McKenzie, Drayson.
