On Saturday, June 10 (tomorrow) I would appeal to all sporting bodies and every organised association to send their members to assist in preparing for the best Show this coast has yet seen. (Time 9 a.m.) On the following Saturday, June 17 at 9 am., we require at least 25 men to erect the huge marquees, one being 4000 square feet. In the past, Show Presidents have not appealed in vain, and I am confident that the civic spirit of yesterday is alive today. H. G. Warren, President. SOME SPECIAL ITEMS OF INTEREST The Vice-President, Mr F. M. Abbott, and the Secretary visited the Hamilton Winter Show and booked the largest assemblage of side shows yet to visit Whakatane. The Ferris Wheel, the Wall of Death, Athol the Strongman and three Merry Go Rounds and Chair o’ Planes are coming. Trade space is oversold and the space booked has increased by 89%. - Special preparations have been made for the Caledonian Dancing Competitions on Saturday 24th starting at 10.30 a.m. The Show Hall has been altered and the concert platform can be viewed from all sides. SCHEDULE ALTERATIONS Schedules are now available and if you have not received a copy ring 398 D day phone or 146 A night phone. Classes for Honey have been added both for Amateur and Commercial Producers. Honey granulated classes for clover and light amber 21b containers or larger honey in the comb any size. Owners of Cage Birds, any breed, were omitted from the schedule, but classes as for last year’s Show are now provided. The Executive will provide a class for any exhibit not scheduled.
