TWELVE TEAMS ENTER COMPETITION
Twelve teams are to take part in the Whakatane basketball competitions this season when they start on Saturday. After a good start in a knockout competition last week all teams should play improved games this week-end. The competitions have been divided into three grades, senior A, B and junior, with four teams in each division.
An encouraging feature has been the entry of school teams and these should ensure experienced senior players for the future. The games on Saturday are:—
1.30 p.m.: Redwings v Taneatua on Court 1, referee Mrs Shapley; Paroa A v Poroporo A on Court 2, Miss Sisam; Primary A v School B on Court 3, Mrs Yates. 2.15 p.m.: Olympics v Paroa B Court 1, Mrs Dippie; Poroporo B v School A Court 2, Mrs Shapley; Primary B v St. Joseph's Court 3, Mrs Yates.
