Prices For Bacon Show Sharp Rise At Edgecumbe Sale
Pigs were penned in average numbers at the fortnightly sale of the Farmers’ Co-op. Auctioneering Company held at Edgecumbe. Prices for bacon showed a sharp rise. A bacon company competed keenly for both pork and bacon. Store pigs were also in keen demand while weaners eased slightly on late high rates. Quotations: Heavy bacon to £7 9s; medium bacon, £6 15s to £7, ss; light bacon, £6 to £6 12s; heavy pork, £5 8s to £5 18s; medium pork, £4 14s to_£fji perk, £3 10s " to £4 ss; ISurerand unfinished pork, £2 15s to £3 ss; slips, £2 5s to £2 12s; weaners, 25s to 325.
