Nasty End

At rat at Whakatane came to an unenviable end last week. The rodent had evidently tried to crawl out of a building through a small hole near ground level when it became stuck. It could move neither forward nor backward. This happened late one afternoon. The rat remained stuck through the night but the next day its body was bathed in blood and its head was lying on the ground. Something had bitten its head off some time during the night and by the amount of blood spattered about near the body the rat had not given it without a struggle.
