OPENING TOURNEY WON BY OLYMPICS Whakatane Olympics were the winners of the knockout basketball tournament which opened the season at Whakatane on Saturday. Although the courts were greasy, on account of rain during the night, it was fine all day, and the standard of play was good, considering it was,- so early in the season. Playing for Olympics were: N. Kenyon, (Capt), A. McWilliams, J. Slipper, V. Bowering, E. Quigg, P. Stewart, S. Ngaropo, J. Armstrong, G. Gordon.

All games were played seven minutes each way. The most exciting game during the tournament was won by Olympics 5 v Paroa A 4. The play in this game was well matched.
