Nature Protection Council Is Formed

Organisation's interested in the co-ordination of efforts for the protection of nature have formed a Nature Protection Council. The council will consist of one delegate from each affiliated organisation and will elect six of its members as a standing committee. Thirteen organisations were represented at the meeting at which the council was established. The chairman, Mr A. P. Harper, president of the Forest and Bird Protection Society of New Zealand, which convened the meeting, said many organisations had, at least as part of their aims, the protection of nature. Frequently when any matter in advocacy of the protection of natural objects arose, these organisations expressed opinions with certain differences, giving an impression of disunity.
