Auctioneer’s Note: Mr W. H. Shearer’s health unfortunately has failed and he has been ordered by his medical advisers to give up farming 'temporarily. He has also concluded his sharemilking agreement and now has to sell everything. History of Herd: Mr Shearer purchased 100 2yr heifers from thoroughly # recognised sources three years ago. Next season he pui\.h«s ed 28 2yr heifers and the beginning of this season he purchased 54 2yr heifers. He has culled heavily and systematically over the last three years on testing returns etc., and now has to offer to the public a young herd which has been milked by one man on a. non-strip and no leg rope principle. Calving Dates: These will be announced at the sale but all except 15 are due to calve in July and August. * Since the inception of the herd NO cattle have been culled for udder troubles of any description, and all cattle are fully guaranteed as to soundness and in calf. Special attention should be taken of the fact that to improve this herd Mr Shearer has bought calves off Mr R. Mutton the last two years -and he is offering these for sale also. There are 10 in-calf rising 2yr heifers whose dams in Mr R. Mutton’s well known herd have averaged— Season 1948/49 4361 b fat • Season 1949/50 4251 b fat and 11 rising yearling heifers whose dams in Mr R.
