INCOME RETURNS ARE REQUIRED TO BE MADE NOW
The annual income returns for companies, farmers and other people who have an income in the Bay of Plenty are new due and must be made to the Hamilton Branch of the Land and Income Tax Department by June 1. Failure to furnish a return may result in a fine up to £IOO.
The list of those people who are required to make returns is quite a long one and probably covers everyone who earns or recei vs money, irrespective of how he may get it. The list includes “all companies, all persons in business (m eluding farmers) and all trustees, executors, and administrators, irrespective of whether a profit or a loss has been made.” It may be thought that covers everybody b*vt the list, under sub-section (b) goes 'on “and all other persons who deri*-. ed during the year income from salary, wages, interest, rent annuity, dividend, or other sources, where the total income so derived exceeded £200.”
There are few loop holes in that. The return forms may be obtained from the Whakatane Post Office or any other office in the district.
