Bay Broadcasting Station Answers Whakatane Appeal

Recently an appeal was made to the Beacon by a man who was bedridden. Most of his entertainment these days comes from the radio and one day he heard a number that he liked immediately. He wanted the words so he asked if the Beacon could get them for him. This presented a bit of a poser as the particular selection requested 'had not yet been released in New Zealand except on a few recordings. The Beacon got in touch with the Bay of Plenty broadcasting station IYZ at Rotorua. Did they have that recording? They did.

Could they supply the Beacon with the words to be passed on? They could, but it might be a while yet until a typist could be spared to take a transcription.

And the station staff did that work and then sent it on to the Beacon where it was received yesterday. In turn it was forwarded to the sick man who had made the original request.
