School Teacher Is Farewelled By Edgecombe Gathering
There was a 15rge attendance of parents at the Edgecumbe School recently to bid farewell to Miss L. Jamieson, a member of the staff who is leaving. Mr D. H. McCorquihdale speaking on behalf of the School Committee and Parent Teachers’ Association, expressed regret that Miss Jamieson was leaving the district. She would be missed in many spheres of the school life. Mr R. Patterson, headmaster, said that Miss Jamieson would be very much mised by the staff of the school. The good wishes of the children and parents would go with her and he hoped that she 'would enjoy her new position at Feilding. Presentations made on behalf of the school were: Travelling rug, Lilleen Muligan; suit case, Fred Stone; silver Eversharp pencil, Joy Plank; bouquets, from pupils of Miss Jamieson’s class, Georgina Olsen. Sports team: Floral tennis racquet, Ida Porter. Committee and Parent Teacher Association Angeline McWilliams; staff Miss Clibborn. Items given by pupils:—
Irish Jig Anne Withy; Highland Fling, Jennifer Blake and Dale Irving; piano duet Dorothy and Anthony Thompson; clog waltz, Ngaire Cole and Anne Sulivan; violin trio, Barabara Burgess, Beverley Teasdale, Margaret Vickery; piano solo, Catherine Jones; train ballet, Patty Walsh, Ngaire Cole and Margaret Vickery; Sword danCe, Margaret Andresen; plays by senior pupils; senior choir items; poetry, standards.
