Gay Appearance Of Hall At Monthly Matata Meeting

There were so many entries for a jam jar of flowers at the monthly meeting of the Matata Women’s Institute that the hall had quite a gay appearance. The new president, Mrs C. Conn, presided in an able manner over a smaller than usual attendance.

Mrs K. Caverhill paid a well-de-served tribute to the retiring president, Mrs R. Withy, who has been in the position for the last four yearfe. . The piano fund benefited considerably from the proceeds of a well filled sales table. It was decided to hold a garden party to raise funds for the institute.

Competition results:—• Dahlias, Mrs W. Warbrick 1, Mrs Withy 2; date loaf, Mrs R. Howell 1, Mrs J. Reichardt 2, Mrs D. Taylor 3; jam jar flowers, Mrs Smith 1. Miss Burt 2, Mrs Conn 3! child’s knitted article, Mrs Taylor 1, Mrs Marr 2, Mrs M. Parkinson 3; best flower, Mrs Warbrick.l, Mrs Magee 2. Mrs Withy 3; best vegetable, Mrs Withy 1, Mrs Conn 2, Mrs Reichardt 3.
