Bogs Considered A Nuisance In Borough

Dogs in the borough caused some discussion at the monthly meeting of the Whakatane Borough Council on Monday night and resulted in Cr E. R. Dillicar remarking that he was against pets. Many dogs terrised children going to school and made a nuisance of themselves. He thought the less dogs in the borough the better. Cr R. Buttimore took a similar view. There were dogs everywhere, he said. They ran after cyclists, frightened children and polluted swimming pools. He suggested that ,+ - was time some action was taken to bring dogs under control. The discussion started when the Council considered two applications to build dog kennels, one to breed dogs and the other to house a pack of hounds. Both were referred to the Finance Committee.
