WANTED FOOTPATH'S

Sir, —Referring to your article of 14/4/50 (Ohope Beach Under Fire) that states: Our County member has stated; that those responsible! A significant statement. That in the event of tar-sealing on the Ohope Road. This being the case, why expend larger sums of money ;n roads, when what is wanted is footpaths. As first things come first, let’s have footpaths? From a residential point of view there are the floating population, and those with a progressive point of view to selling out and leaving the residents to carry the higher rates. There are also those residents of retiring age who would suffer, and possibly be pushed out in their fading years by a rise in recurring rates. It would be better to put up with a little dust than to be pushed out. So let those who are interested in visitors and campers apply “to those oowers to be” for a straight out grant from the consolidated funds and they will get the backing, and everyone will pay his whack. The users of the road must pay.

Yours etc.,

A RESIDENT.

Ohope, April 30,
