No Late Power Cut Tomorrow Night

So that bakers may be able to bake their extra bread for the weekend the usual 10.30 p.m. to midnight power cut will not be made tomorrow night or any following Thursday. However the 6.30 p.m. to 7.45 p.m. cut will be on as usual. There have been no further developments in any extra cut apart from the Sunday borough cut from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., which is to start next Sunday. The county will not be affected by this cut. Latest figures show that consumption in the borough is still above the allocation despite the cuts. An appeal is now being made to all commercial and industrial consumers to conserve electricity. So far only one business firm, a carpentering and timber mill, have been rationed. Should the present consumption remain up compulsory industrial rationing may be necessary at Whakatane.
