OHOPE PROPERTIES
Sir, —Following on the recent revaluation of properties ratepayers in the Ohope area, and presumably elsewhere, have received advice of the new valuations which are substantially higher than before. There is the right of objection to the new assessment but so far as I am aware ratepayers are in the dar ; k as to the Council’s - intentions. Is it,to be taken that the current year’s rates will rise in proportion to the increase in valuation? Presumably the amount of rates charged should bear some relation to services and amenities given and if increased rates are to be charged what additional services are contemplated? These matters are of moment to the public if the right to lodge objections is to be intelligently determined.
Yours etc., “INTERESTED.”
