Pigs And Cows Come Forward In Larger Numbers At Sale
Pigs continued to come forward in good numbers with prices for heavy pigs remaining very firm but small pigs meeting with a slackening demand, it was noted by the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. Ltd. at the Te Puke stock sale. Increased numbers of fat and boner cows ex dairy were disposed of at values fully up to late rates. Range of prices'realised:—
Medium choppers, £4 to £6; heavy baconers, £6 16s to £7; medium to heavy baconers, £6 8s to £6 15s; light baconers, £5 5s to £6; large buttermilk pigs, £5 to £5 18s; heavy porkers, £4 10s to £5; light porkers, £3 to £4; slips, 25s to 38s; weaners, 15s to 18s.
Heavy fat cows, ex dairy, £lO to £11; fat Jersey cows, £8 to £10; boner cows, £6 to £8; light boner cows,. £4 to £6; potter bulls, £8 5s to £l2 ss; light potter bulls, £s\to £7; weaner Jersey heifers to £7; 2tooth wethers to 38s; fat' Southdown 2-tooths to 455.
