RED CROSS SOCIETY Whakatane Branch Annual meeting, Red Cross rooms 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 21. 171 WHAKATANE COUNTY COUNCIL NOTICE OF SPECIAL ORDER Notice is hereby given that at a special meeting of the Whakatane County Council held on the 28th day of February, 1950, the following resolution was passed and will be submitted for confirmation at the ordinary meeting of the Council to be held on Tuesday, 28th day of March, 1950, at il a.m. at the County Council Chambers, tane:— “THAT in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it by Sections 23, and 100 of The Counties’ Act, 1920, the Whakatane County Council hereby resolves by way of special order to receive and adopt special committee’s report dated the 28th day of February, 1950, so far as such report refers to the boundaries of the following ridings:—Matata, Tarawera, Rangitaiki, Omataroa, Ohope, Taneatua, Waimana, Nukuhou, Galatea and Urewera.” A copy of the special order is deposited at the office of the Council and is, together with the special committee’s report referred to in the resolution above, open to the inspection of the public at the County Office, Whakatane, during office hours. PUBLIC NOTICE—REHABILITAe TION Selection of Farm Manager from eligible Maori ex-servicemen. The area for which a manager is required, comprises 395 acres 3 roods 33 perches, being formerly •part of the property of V. C. Miller, Waimana, and is situated approximately 15 miles from Taneatua, access being by • metalled road from the Taneatua-Opotiki main highway.. The area has been sown in grass and when the pasture is consolidated it will be subdivided into two, or possibly three dairy farms, for the settlement of Maori ex-service-men. Meantime sheep and cattle are carried. A new house will be provided for manager. Applications are called for a reliable and competent working manager, under the supervision of the local Field Supervisor of the Department of Maori Affairs, to take over the control of the land until settlement is effected. All applicants will require to be “A” grade Maori ex-servicemen of the Te Tuhoe tribe, resident in the Wai'ariki Maori Land District, who have been classified as eligible for immediate rehabilitation assistance by the Rehabilitation Board. Applicants will require to appear before the Eastern Bay of Plenty Farming Sub-Committee for determination of qualifications for sthe position on a date to be notified later. The successful applicant will be promised a section (undefined at present) on final settlement of the block.' Applications will be accepted up to and including 31st March 1950 and should be made by letter addressed to the Registrar, Maori Land Court, Rotorua.
