HOUSEHOLD HINT
For discoloured collars add a little powdered borax to the soaking Water, with soap or powder. Also add a dessertspoon of borax to a copper full of clothes. It softens the Water, removes stains and whitens the clothes, without injuring the fabrics. If a very little borax is added when making starch it gives collars or house linen a nice gloss.
