Amy Mollison’s Air Mail Bag Is Shown At Waimana
The small bag that held the letters carried by the famed ‘ airwoman, the late Amy Mollison, during her long aeroplane flight from feng-, land to Australia was the interest-' -ing exhibit annual meeting of the Waimana Women’s Institute by Mrs E. Addison.- A part from the famous aircraft used on that historical trip was also displayed. -' It was decided to hold a garden party in aid of the headquarters building fund at the home of Mrs Wylde. Reports from the Gardening Circle and the Drama and Glee Club showed that each was progressing favourably. A number of elocutionary items were presented by Mrs G. Stansbury. Competition results:—
Best flower, Mrs G. Hewitt 1, Mrs F. Bell 2, Mrs F. Kelsen 3; multiple flowers, Mrs L. McDonald 1, Mrs M. King 2, Mrs R. Hodgson 3; best vegetable, Mrs Bell 1, Mrs King 2, Mrs C. Bell 3; trough of flowers, Mrs McDonald 1, Miss J. Stevens 2, Mrs F. Bell 3; shortbread, Mrs Hewitt I, Mrs F. Bell 2, Mrs J. Wardlaw 3; machined cushion, Mrs JMitchell 1, Mrs F. Bell 2.
