U.S. Engineer’s Visit After spending about two weeks at the Maraetai hydro-electric scheme, Mr Andrew Simonds, senior engineer in_the American Bureau of Reclamation, is visiting Roxburgh, where he is discussing methods of grouting the schist rock country in the vicinity of the dam with engineers of the State HydroElectric Department. Members Thanked Appreciation of the work done by all members and their assistance •- to her during the year was expressed by the president, Mrs G. The Old ‘/Boys” The older members of the Taneatua and Ohope Bowling Clubs who , met at Ohope on Tuesday were old in age, if nothing else. Their playing gave the impression that they were far from being aged and decrepit but their ages showed they were getting on in years at least. The ages of players of both teams, four in each, totalled 598 years.

Lending a Hand Several members of the Whakatane Saint Andrews Pipe Band will be playing with the Opotiki Pipe Band -at a band and marching competition to be held at Opotiki tomorrow. The Whakatane players will help to swell the numbers of the Opotiki band, which has not a large membership at the present time. Land Court Sittings Tiie Waiariki Maori Land Court (Rotorua) is to sit at Whakatane and Opotiki four more times at either place during the next 12 months until February of next year according to the Gazette. The dates for Whakatane from which the court will sit are: May 16, August 15, November 14, February 13, 1951. The Opotiki dates are: May 30, August 8, November 21. February 27, 1951.
