The Recorded Voice Sees Everything
To a careless worker near a circular saw a robot voice shouted: “Close that guard while you’ve, still got a hand.” The voice came from a wire-re-cording machine demonstrated by the General Electric Company. A nearby footstep, smoke in the air, the breaking of a light beam, or the touching of a door works a trigger which starts the voice. A smoker who walks into an explosive store will be told as soon as the smoke starts the machine: “Put out that cigarette.” « v It can be set up at street corners to shout to jay-walkers: “Get back on the footpath.”
