Long Earthquake
A rather prolonged although not severe earthquake was felt at Whakatane at about 7 o’clock this morning. There were two main shakes. The first was only of a couple of seconds duration but the second followed immediately after and lasted about 15 seconds. It was accompanied by a slight rumble and the movement was a rocking action towards White Island. The quake was not violent enough to cause any damage.
