High Percentage Of Lambing In N.Z.
Figures published in ‘‘The New Zealand Journal of Agriculture” show an estimated lambing percentage for the Dominion for the 1949 season of 96.48 —the highest on record and an appreciable increase on the previous highest figure of 93.11 per cent., which was recorded for 1947. The 1948 figure was 92.72.
Slightly revised figures of numbers of breeding ewes in a few North Island counties have now raised the figure even higher—to 96.50 per cent. The Dominion total of breeding ewes is now given as 21,499,703*
