Development Of Great Australian Inland Cities?
Cheap power and water from the Snowy River hydro-electric scheme, estimated to cost £200,000,000. would lead to the development of great inland : cities in the Murray and Murrumbidgee Valleys, the Minister of Works and Housing, Mr Lemmon, said in the House of Representatives recently. The Commonwealth is using its defence- powers to control the scheme, but New South Wales and Victoria will gain from the power generated and from the water released for irrigation. Mr Lemmon said the new cities could take a population of 1.000,000.
